Best rabbit control methods
Each job is different and effectiveness is relevant to a lot of factors. Rabbit problems vary greatly and the answer to this is often depicted by environment, budget and the required goal.
First point of thought is to understand the realistic outcome and what the client wants to achieve. We then complete a site visit and establish what methods will work, if fencing is required, and develop an integrated management strategy before we start.
Methods
Our favoured methods to remove the bulk of rabbits are with ferrets and nets aided by a detection dog/s. We often then follow up with shooting with night vision and thermal equipment. Technology has moved fast in recent years and this has allowed us to use very quiet FAC air rifles to effectively remove rabbits at 200 yards without any disturbance to other rabbits or land users.
