From the UK to New Zealand
Ed our MD and George our operations manager, travelled across the world to New Zealand for the week to attend this conference. With people from all around the world it was the perfect opportunity to share information, learn and appreciate the hard work that goes into the removal of invasive species from islands to protect, enhance and restore biodiversity.
It was great to catch up with many people we have worked closely with over the years , put names to faces and of course make some new contacts for projects of the future. Along with this it was great to be in a room with, and listen to world leaders in this field allowing evergreen to firmly become part of the community.
It was amazing to talk with many people from around the world and share our work techniques and methodology. We had a lot of interesting talks from people involved in rabbit control and other non native species from around the globe.
We are also proud to see George’s hard work from the Seychelles recognised as he was a listed author in papers concerning eradication of bird species, with global recognition.
We had a lot of interest from folk about our work and especially the use of ferrets as an eradication tool , and discussed with many the use of thermal drones , calibres of rifles etc for effective control.
New Zealanders are world leaders in innovative methods to help native wildlife and it was great to see such a forward thinking approach, let’s hope one day the UK can adopt such practice.
